Well Protected Ephesians 6:10-19 - Daily Devotional for July 30th, 2013 Put on the full armor of God so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes. (Eph. 6:11) Well Protected On a cold march day in Afghanistan, the 101st Airborne Battalion engaged the Taliban in a narrow mountain valley called Barawala Kalet. During a five-hour exchange of gunfire, Sgt. Matthew Mendez received a bullet to his chest. Because of the chest plate he was wearing, his life was spared. He was able to stand against the enemy and continue to fight. Ephesians 6 tells us that Christians are in a spiritual battle “against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.” Wherever God’s work prospers, Satan and his minions escalate their attack. If a soldier walked onto the battlefield unarmed, we would think him foolish. Yet we often enter Satan’s territory without our spiritual armor. Just as Sgt. Mendez readied himself for battle, so must we as Christians put on the full armor of protection the Lord has provided to stand against the enemy: God’s truth, obedience to His Word, peace with Him, faith in Him, eternal salvation, Scripture, and prayer. Satan is cunning, but we don’t need to fear him if we have received Jesus as our Savior. “The one who is in you is greater than the one who is in the world” (1 John 4:4). Trust in the Lord, put on His full armor, and take your stand. —Nancy Reinke Examine your spiritual armor to see what pieces need strengthening.
