Well gotta tell you a story about Thursday 11/13/2014. First the build up.I had called my friend , Laela Martin and invited her to be our guest speaker for our little mystery book club. She accepted and Thursday came. Comedy of comedies , or now it is funny, she called half way to our fair little community and apologizes that she is running late. She went to her car and started it, forgot her phone and went back into the house and got it, but now her drivers car door is locked by accident and the keys are in the car that is running. So she went thru another door and finally got the door open and is on her way. So we all meet and go to our little meeting and the hostess had prepared Lentil soup in honor of our authors , who are Jewish, and a conversation started about food being Kosher. Now those that know Laela , knows that she is a very smart and interesting person, those that dont should make it a point to know her. I invited her because of her middle Eastern parents and she knows about different religions but she stated very plainly that she is a Christian, not of the Jewish faith or Arabic and in her every word you can tell of her faith but I digress, and we had about 7 people plus Laela, everyone was so interested in what our speaker was saying that we had lost track of time and still had more questions. The ladies have all bragged to their friends what a good time that we had and how impressed they were with Laela. So now Laela Faye, has a standing invitation to attend our club and to visit with us and just enjoy herself. I personally thank Laela for coming and sharing with us. I have brought a ladies group to Rochester and the ladies were so impressed with the museum, the veterans memorial, Bills store, the school and the vocational school and brag on it all of the time. So slowly but surely I am convincing people here that Rochester is a special place and that I have a good reason to always say that there is no place like Rochester. But an interesting thing is one of the ladies that visited Rochester and was at the meeting last nite , her late husband was a football coach in the 60s so she and I can talk Steer vs Greyhounds , So just another little rambling but if I could manage to bottle what is special about our town , I would be a very rich lady. Thank you Laela.
