Well, here is the first one and a better example of the dead hand of government on the People can probably not be found. At least today, dont forget to check back! Measure BB in Alameda County adds 1% to the already astronomical Sales Tax to pay for Transportation Measures. Basically, we are going to extend the non-express parts of BART into Livermore, an under-served and, frankly, pretty low density area that needs it like the hole in the head, to reduce the backups on Interstate 580 that are actually coming out of the Tracy area further upstream. Like that is going to work! All that money, $7.8 billion! Hey, arent there a bunch of poor people being hit by this tax in Oakland? Its going to help them too, right? Well, guess not. But, it will certainly extend the hegemonic control of the BART unions over more workers, force fare increases to pay for the new rolling stock and huge end-point rail yard, oh, and and add forced political contributions to the Democratic Party. Like they need to line their pockets with more taxpayer dollars! On the front end, the construction companies ill pay BIG $$ to the politicians and then same Political Action Committees will skim off the Union dues on the other. Dont worry, they listened to the voters who didnt like the permanent 1/2% increase in 2012 and voted it down by 750 votes, county wide. So, this one is just temporary. 30 years. Ill shop elsewhere. ballotpedia.org/Alameda_County_Transportation_Commission_Sales_Tax,_Measure_BB_%28November_2014%29
