Well race done & dusted, Noosa I do so love coming up for this event. Its not my distance (I am long distance not short) but its a race I will continue to do because it is now a tradition for me. All & all I am happy with my race, I am not the fastest but I guess you can say I am a work in progress !!! Yesterday saw so many positives for me. I had huge improvements in my swim, both in time & right now probably more importantly confidence. Swimming has never been a love, I never learnt how to swim properly so each time I race or even I guess train it is a mental battle to get in the water. Yesterday was the first time I have started a race without making myself physically sick with nerves, so for me now headed into the type of racing I actually train for this is an enormous bonus. Oh plus I stayed on course (except for the last buoy) & swam straight which is a first!! I was happy with my bike it was strong & I was comfortable, the time isnt accurate as they added both transition 1 & 2 times to the final bike time so I am going on my Garmin time. I did waste an enormous amount of time in transition but its not a huge concern for longer distance racing, plus a girl has to do what a girl has to do like apply sunscreen, lip gloss, change socks etc (I am sure I have provided a few laughs there). Another huge positive for me was my nutrition plan. I seemed to nail it yesterday with my Pro4mance products on board I managed to stay properly hydrated & fuelled which is a first in a race for me so I am extremely happy with this. My run was probably my only disappointment, I couldnt find speed at all which I had been training hard on & I ran with long distance ironman legs not fast Olympic distance legs!! But at the end of the day I finished strong with a sprint to the line, high 5s to the crowd on the way & a huge smile on my face. So now I look forward to Challenge Shepparton in just under 2 weeks & the Mornington Long Course Tri 2 weeks after that. Thanks to my friends, family & sponsors for supporting me, its time to really get this race season going now. I am really feeling positive for some great races & some great fun along the way.
