Welllll? At first, he comes off as being in the pocket of Monsanto. Its nice that in the end he talks about nightmare scenarios, exercising caution, labeling the foods and carefully testing the foods on a case by case basis. I think thats all anyone is saying. Im not against trying to improve our food system. However, I happen to have noticed a change in the texture, acidity and sweetness of my tomatoes in the last two years. They turn to mush more quickly now and just dont taste right. Id like to be given a choice of paying more in order to get the old tomatoes because they taste better, but Im not given that choice because every time a law about labeling is proposed, the agrochemical companies decide to throw money at it until it goes away. GMOs are sinister in another way as well. Agrochemical companies like Monsanto and Dupont are genetically modifying crops to withstand Round Up. The Round up is sprayed on crops in order to increase productivity by killing the weeds. The Round Up evaporates and gets into the atmosphere (especially here in Florida) and now I cant go anywhere without my inhaler (especially in the early fall). This was never the case before and thousands of Floridians are having the same symptoms. I think the whole Round Up issue will be an environmental catastrophe in the next couple years. A new report says exactly that as theyre recently found that Glyphosate, a chemical in Round Up causes Parkinsons disease. Round up wont work forever because the weeds will genetically modify themselves through evolution. But the agrochemical companies have thought of this and theyre genetically modifying crops to withstand stronger herbicides. Ones that are even worse for the environment. So lets support laws that curb this madness please.
