What I would like to see happen! So often Im involved in facebook debates always against the Republicans but also with folks who believe both parties are the same. Well, yes, when it comes down to the money and getting re-elected and coddling Wall Street they do both become similar. However, Id scale it Republicans 80 percent wrongful, Democrats 15 percent wrongful and the genuine Libertarians (not Tea Baggers, theyre with the Republicans) are the remaining five percent for blame. Fact is our system of government is destroying the planet. Science tells us this. Worse, over much of the past century we, America, have raped the natural resources from the poorer countries -- the diamonds, the gold, the silver, the tin, the copper, the oil and, yes, the timber among other things. Heck, our conscience, our awareness, our education should tell us this. If America is a leader in the world then America needs real leaders, not the fake corporate lackey-types whove prevailed way too long in our government and caused so many wars. In effect, the British colonies of yesteryears became American ones but differently described. Somethings gotta be done. The poverty has become too great and the super rich have become too few. There needs to be a balance in both economy and how we our planet. Will republicans do this? No, they wont. Theyve pretty much held presidential and appointing (government, courts and diplomatic posts) power since Nixon and have failed miserably. And each day we get more frighteningly close to doom. When those glaciers melt well see, as we have been seeing, wicked and catastrophic weather patterns. Indeed, the rivers will flood in many areas and theyll be widespread patterns of drought and problems with topsoil elsewhere. When the glacial lakes retreat and burst, rivers will indeed flood. Then theyll dry to our curse ... eventually humanity will be in a mighty thirst as water will be no more and hunger will then come knocking our door. Its why I named my band Climate Change and why I wrote the song Pray For The Glacier. But its so hard to get anything done. We, Americans, need a jumpstart. But were all so numbed by working extra to support families, and hung out in front either the computer or the television nobody has any incentive to do anything. And this will continue until the absolute horror stares us in the face and takes out our homes. So how to we achieve a political climate change? Heres my idea: Given that weve become so damn numb, perhaps we need to go back to our roots. Here is my hope! What if a tribe, or a coalition of Native American tribes -- much like theyve been battling the Keystone pipeline project -- led a series of serious and well-supported marches onto Washington D.C. To lead an Occupy force intensely led by a strong contingent of Native Americans. It would require all of the power of folk and rock n roll band across the country to rally the people behind Native American leaders. Weve got to somehow strike the minds and hearts, the imaginations of the American people and inspire them out of their numbness! So please dont file this under I had a dream last night. Please share it, talk about it and try and make something happen. I would so much prefer a strong movement of people standing for something important then the next series of elections where the conflicted media makes a mint off of political money by keeping the races close for both Republicans and Democrats. Put the pressure on folks. Hey, we should have all marched on Washington the moment Obama was sworn in for his second term. So that he could see that he was facing a massive sea change! And anyone elected in the next round of elections should definitely see this!!! Be idle no more and remember the same system of candidates will change nothing. Only we can change them. If we dont? Then enjoy your stay in the herd and hope the buffalo dont get wiped out a second time, cause thats whats coming!
