What Wisdom is This? " Jeremiah chapter 8 describes the reasons for God to punish the people of Jerusalem. Through this faithful prophet, God condemned the people by diverting the truth, following the false teachings of the religious leaders. These leaders and their blind followers exalted themselves, saying, "We are wise, and the law of the LORD is with us" (8:8). The same thing is still happening today. There are many religious people who are secure in their confidence in the doctrines of men. Believe they are saved, and in communion with God. But if the word that guides their lives is not of God, such feelings of security are not self-deception. God responded to the "wise" of Jerusalem: "The wise men are ashamed, they are dismayed and taken: lo, they have rejected the word of the LORD, so what wisdom do they have?" (8:9). Was educated in Jerusalem and informed the wisdom of man. Some of these people knew well the words of Scripture, but not applied in life. Studied to find ways to "handily" reject the word of God (Mark 7:9). Boldly challenged the faithful servants of God and succeeded in deceiving many people, but had no power to change the word of the Lord (see the example of Hananiah in Jeremiah 28). Many people nowadays rely on bold claims of religious leaders. Like baby birds that leave mothers choose and chew your food, some people rely on pastors and priests to choose and prepare their spiritual food, and swallow everything without looking at anything. These people forget that salvation is individual. Anyone who follows the deceivers will also be lost. Jesus himself said: "And if the blind lead the blind, both shall fall into the ditch" (Matthew 15:14).
