What a difference 10 days makes! And particularly what a difference to me personally the last 4 have made. Monday the 17th at 5:46pm saw the arrival of my newest helper baby Jessica (Piglet). A healthy 7lb 5oz bundle of loveliness. It will be a while before she can wield a broom and wagon a hairy pony but as soon as shes big enough well be off hunting and racing. And come spring team chasing season shell be there strapped on my back to walk the courses. I think shell be ready for opens by the time shes 3! Luckily Ive had a good turn over of horses and Im in a little bit of a quiet stage at the minute. I had 3 go home at the weekend and everything bar one is riding and going very well. So Ive been able to tick them over quietly this week. Also the Old Man and the Old Dear along with the foster rats have been brilliant in doing evening stables for me whilst Ive been away to see Piglet. So what now? Ive got to get some hunter certificates lodged so potentially we can run some of these horses after Xmas, I need to get my Jockey licenses sent off so I can ride them, I need to scrape together a few copper coins to pay the kids for helping me this week I suppose and I need to get tack cleaned ready for hunting on Tuesday! Any visitors to Severn Equus from now on may well be subject to compulsory baby cooing and poking. She will undoubtedly be chained into a chair, wrapped up in a big warm, fluffy snowsuit and be being wheeled round in a barrow watching me work!
