What are the capabilities of an infant? Theyre dependent on their parents for food. Theyre unable to dress themselves or change their own diapers. Theyre even unable to get in and out of their own beds without the help of their parents. As they get older, they start to learn to crawl on their own. They want to hold their own spoon as they eat their food. Independence is their goal, but are they able to obtain that? As we grow older we begin to take charge of more elements of our lives, the clothes we like, the foods we crave, the toys we enjoy, and the best places to visit. But even so, as children we still hold a very limited view of the world. The size and complexities of life are still unknown to us. Our life consists of our parents house, perhaps a relative or twos home as well, the grocery, our church, a playground, the doctors office, and a few other places. This is our world view at the time, small, simple, and hopefully for the most part, full of joy and happiness. At this time, we arent planning to be rulers of a nation or presidents of a company. Were not planning to work on installing fresh water systems for another country or building churches and schools for them. Life is straightforward. Were probably unaware of the complications that our parents face. Its really the same relationship that we as Christians have with God. To put us in His shoes and rule over the universe would be a complete disaster because we lack the understanding and experience of all of the tasks requiring our Gods attention. The choices wed make would be limited by our narrow perspective of life and its intricate details. We need to remain as children, leaving the larger tasks to Gods hands. We need to realize that we dont have all of the answers to lifes great mysteries. Many questions will go unanswered until we get to meet with your Savior. So until that day comes, we place our faith and hope in the One who came to save each and every one His children. He is the great parent of all. All of creation is within His domain. He is the great teacher, provider, and healer. Without our Lord, we would all starve and die, but through His grace we can grow up, solid in the truth and experience He provides. Live life as a child and trust that God is taking care of the complications so that we can enjoy His wondrous gifts of love. - Thoughts from Psalm 131
