What can I say my son Tomasi surprises me everyday!!!! St Marks are having a school swimming Sports Day next week to compete for house points. Years 1-3 had an event and Years 3-4 and Up can either do 25 m flufferboard, 25 m breaststroke, 25 m butterfly, 25 m frontcrawl and 25 m backstroke! Each student has to do at least one event. Tomasi naturally wanted to enter for his year group and I found out today that they couldnt get the shallower side for the little ones and Tomasi was the only person to enter the competition for Yrs 1-3 so they have decided not to do 1-3 but they have asked me if Tomasi was confident enough to swim 25m length in a 2m pool. I said over confident yes but a 2m depth, a bit unsure but blow me T wants to give it a crack! I told the teachers we would go after school to have a go and he was bloody awesome for a depth that big and he was so pleased with himself that he managed not only to swim 50m with an aqua belt on to start with (thought that was a good idea for buoyancy to test his nerves) and floatie but then we took the belt off and he swam better with two floaties and nearly swam the 25m all by himself!!! Im so impressed, not bad for first effort. Tomasi said to me mummy i know I will be last but its the competing that matters, hey!, thats right T and you will be rewarded and applauded for your effort alone due to only being 5 years old! Thats an achievement in itself T. You are competing against 7-8 year olds! I now have under a week to train a 5 year old who thinks he knows best! Check it out! Go Tomasi Go! If anyone has a day off or has some free time please come and cheer him on! Tues at the Aquatic in kilbirnie from 9am until 2pm. He would be stoked!!!
