What do you DESIRE What makes you itch? What sort of a situation would you like? Lets suppose that a group of student come to me and say wellwe’re getting out of college and have no idea what we want to do. So I always ask the question, “What would you want to do itmoney were no object?” How would you really enjoy spending your life? Well its so amazing that as a result of our kind ofeducational system crowds of our students say well, we would like to bepainters we would like to be poets we’d like to be writers but as everybodyknows you cant earn any money that way. Another person says I’d like to live an out of doors lifeand ride horses. I said do you want toteach in a riding school? Lets gothrough with it what do you want to do? When we finally got down to something, which the individualreally wants to do I will say to him; You do that and forget the money becauseif you say getting the money is the important thing you will be spending yourlife completely wasting your time. You’llbe doing things you don’t like doing in order to go on living that is to go ondoing things you don’t like doing, which is STUPID. Better to have a short life that is full of what you likedoing than a long life spent in a miserable way. After all if you do really like what you are doing, itdoesn’t matter what it is. you can eventually become a master of it. The only way to become a master of somethingis to be really with it and then you’ll be able to get a good fee for whateverit is. So don’t worry too much, Somebodiesinterested in everything. Anything youcan be interested in, you’ll find others interested in. But it is absolutely stupid to spend your time doing thingsyou don’t like in order to go on spending on things you don’t like and doingthings you don’t like, and to teach your children to follow in the same track. See what were doing, is were bringing up children andeducating them to live the same sort of lives were living, in order that theymay justify themselves and find satisfaction in life by bring up their childrento bring up their children to do the same thing. So its all wretch and no vomit, it never getsthere. So, therefore it is SO IMPORTANT to consider this question:What do I desire?
