ABS-CBN DISCOVERS WHIZ KIDS LIVING IN MANILA STREET SIDES By Manny Pinol It all started with a video posted on youtube showing a street kid answering difficult Math questions from college students in exchange for a few loose change which went viral. Giant TV network, ABS-CBN fielded a reporter to the area to track down the whiz kid. Reporter Ron Gagalac discovered that there was not only one whiz kid named Gerald but at least two others whose families lived in the street sides, one of them in a small pushcart. Watching the report made by Gagalac left me wondering what future awaits these very bright young kids. While our politicians quarrel over plundered billions of pesos in government funds, there are so many bright young Filipinos struggling to live day by day, begging for coins just to survive. This is how corruption steals a better life from the young Filipinos of today. Unless we continue the campaign to weed out corrupt politicians and government officials, we will never be able to provide these children a better future.
