What is the logic of telling someone that they should not trust - TopicsExpress

What is the logic of telling someone that they should not trust whats inside them because they are bad, sinful, deceitful and corrupt inside. So instead we should trust the religious leader who tells us this? There is no logic in this. If you are bad, sinful, deceitful and corrupt inside... then they are bad, sinful, deceitful and corrupt inside also, and therefore there is no reasonable rationale for accepting what they say. The whole dont-trust-yourself-but-trust-me logic doesnt work. Which is why the next shoe drops, which is that whole bit about how they are much more holier, devoted, scholarly and devoted to God than you are... and thats why you should not trust yourself and trust them. Any religious or spiritual leader or teacher should be encouraging people to turn toward the life-giving Spirit and higher spiritual presence within them, as opposed to telling people to mistrust themselves and become attached or dependent upon them. The source of life and truth is within each of us. Its a level playing field. Becoming too beholden to any spiritual leader or teacher may be getting in the way of you connecting with the source and Spirit within you. You cannot be attuned with that higher spiritual presence inside you by vicariously living through the personality and teachings of others. Listen to, trust, and speak in your own words from that source of life and truth inside you.
