What nobler employment, or more valuable to the state, than that - TopicsExpress

What nobler employment, or more valuable to the state, than that of the man who instructs the rising generation? There is none. So let me take this opportunity - cliched as it is, with today being Teachers Day - to thank those of you whove shaped my life in more ways than I can count and taught me life lessons which will stay with me forever. Vasu maam, for loving me and supporting me every day for seven years now. You taught me the meaning of unbiased, unconditional love, and for that I will always be grateful. Shalini maam, for scolding me, cajoling me into working, supporting me at my lowest, crying with me when I was at my worst, and just being there for me no matter what. Neera maam, for being the first teacher who I ever hated that I ended up loving. We didnt get along in the beginning, not until you made me realise that I do in fact have attitudinal issues which I need to sort out. Once I did, we got along so much better. Missing the gossip sessions in your garden! Madhur maam, for showing me that even in the matter of a few months, it is possible to have a profound impact on your students life, to alter their perspective on a lot of things, and to be so, so loved. Alisha maam, Deepali maam, and Charu maam, for teaching me that you can look up to someone, love them, and trust them implicitly even if they never taught you in the classroom. And because I learnt that not being taught by someone in the classroom doesnt preclude them from teaching me so very much outside it. Amita maam, for always being there, right from the moment I joined Brightlands. And for helping me out even now that Ive graduated - I dont need to worry about Katya because I know teachers like you are hovering right there. Im eternally grateful. Amit Mittal sir and Amit Goyal sir, for being with me every step of the way during my preparation and showing me that maybe coaching isnt just a business, contrary to popular perception. Sometimes mentors do go above and beyond the call of duty. You two were far more than mere coaching centre directors for me. Youve helped shape the path of my life. Manuj sir, for being there whenever I was frustrated or needed a word of advice. Youve been an incredibly encouraging source of wisdom, and youve never once guided me wrong. Chandan sir, Chetan sir, Prabal sir, Albert sir, and Yash sir - I owe my rank to you. Your classes have been some of the best Ive attended in my life, and it is only because of how much I loved them that I am where I am today. Not to mention all the incredible talks weve had outside of class - I look at you more as friends than purely as teachers. I cannot thank you enough. Ajar sir, you are in the true sense of the word my mentor. I know I can count on you at every step, and youre my radar to help me navigate law school life. I think your classes were the first time I really felt I was preparing to be a lawyer, as opposed to merely studying for CLAT. It was the best incentive Ive ever had to clear the damn thing. Thank you so much for believing in me. I hope, over the years, Ill be able to justify that faith and give something back, both to you and to society. Chinmay, you re-entered my life at a dark time for me personally, at a time when I was bereft and unsure of a lot of personal qualities. You re-ignited my love for reading, and just by looking at you, I realised that there were in fact many worlds left to conquer and got back to work. Thank you for teaching me by example the meaning of humility, and reminding me that I must always strive for excellence just when I needed that reminder. Avinash Singh and Ashish Chaturvedi, for being the pillars of strength I can go to for help whenever I need it. I feel blessed to be in a position for I have two people I can talk to whenever I need guidance or even if I just need to get something off my chest. Thank you so much for everything youve done for me. I dont think youll ever understand the degree of my gratitude. Reena Chaturvedi, thank you for making me who I am. Everything I am today, I owe to you.
