When I first started practicing law, we had a managing member named Toby Hughes. Toby had a saying, when the facts are on your side, pound on the facts; when the law is on your side, pound on the law; when neither is on your side, pound on the table. In todays political world, there is a lot of table pounding. So many of my friends are justifiably indignant toward our government and our leadership. They are looking for someone who will fight, who will express their anger and their fear. I get it. But there are different ways of fighting for conservative reform. We can keep pounding on the table or we can build coalitions and do the hard work behind the scenes to actually effectuate change. I know one may feel good, but for my time, Id rather be productive. I caution many of my conservative friends that many of those voices that are pounding on tables right now dont care about you. They are exploiting anger to make a living and make a name for themselves.
