When The Light Overtakes Hell... I am certain of this...there - TopicsExpress

When The Light Overtakes Hell... I am certain of this...there will never be adequate words to describe what I experienced tonight. However, I will try everything in my power especially since so many of you have responded and committed to pray for the seven homeless and helpless children we rescued from Hell On Earth just 48 hours ago. Her name is Mercy (ironic after what you will read)! She told us that she is 14, but Im told that the rag she had stuck up her nose which was soaked in jet fuel has at some point stunted her growth. When she stumbled up to us just two short days ago, she was wide-eyed, drugged out of her mind, clinging to us, talking but making no sense, giggling with a strangely, eeery giggle and each time an older drugged out boy came near her she screamed with terror and ran to hide behind the woman they all refer to as Mum Thorunn, (I now refer to her as an honest to goodness Angel on Earth!) Honestly, Mercy was the most disturbing to look at because when you looked at her eyes she literally looked dead behind those big brown pupils. But she clung to Thorunn and begged and begged us to take her with us. The social worker accompanying us told Thorunn there was only room for one new child at ABC. One?!?! How do you choose just one when soooo many are begging and pleading for us to take them out of this hellhole? You dont... you load up seven and without asking anyone for permission to take them away, because there is no one to ask, you buckle them in for the very first time and drive them away to safety. The first night at ABC was horrific for Mercy. When I inquired where she was, they told me that she was so sick that she could not stand on her own and they had to put her straight to bed. After nightly worship, I asked to go check on her. I guess because she is the only girl we rescued and she was in the worst condition, I felt something a little special for her. I found her sharing a twin bed with another teen orphan who was a complete stranger, but she was sound asleep and looked strangely peaceful. They asked me to pray over her for her healing and that she would not try to run back to the Base and the jet fuel she is so addicted to. So with all the faith that I had and all the other orphan girls surrounding me, I laid my hands on Mercy and asked God for a miracle and her complete and total healing. With tears pouring down my face, I said Amen, stroked her head and quietly walked away. Since Wednesday night, I have inquired of all seven who we rescued but particularly Mercy, who I learned has epilepsy and had spent most of today at the hospital for a full physical check-up, which is standard for any new child brought to ABC off the streets. I was told she was doing OK. Tonight, our team piled into the van to attend our last nightly worship service with the children at ABC before we leave tomorrow not knowing we were about to experience a modern day miracle! We approached to hear the familiar praise and worship singing in Swahili coming from the schools hall. Once the singing stopped, it was time for the nightly testimonies in which the rescued orphans share where they come from and what God and ABC has done for them. Tonight, they requested two girls followed by two boys. Jane, who could barely be seen over the podium, shared her amazing story first to which she received a round of applause. I am still reeling after what happened next. A young, clean-shaven head girl popped up with bible in hand to share her testimony. It was Mercy! With a big smile on her face, she began to tell the story of how just two days ago our team came to tell the kids on the streets about God, feed us and then they brought me here to ABC. And I know that I am going to now have an education and a future! She didnt stop there. Oh no! Next she opened the worn and tattered bible she was holding and continued. I would like to read to you from Acts Chapter 5. These verses always give me courage for my sickness. Then she slowly and methodically began reading in English verse 16, crowds gathered also from the towns around Jerusalem, bringing their sick and those tormented by evil spirits, and all of them were healed. I found my mouth wide open in awe of what I was seeing and hearing before me. How could this be? Was I seeing not only an answer to my, Pleeease God! prayer but also a modern-day miracle right before my eyes. How could this happen in just 48 hours as I was told it could take several days for her to overcome the effects of the jet fuel?!?! As if that wasnt enough, once she finished reading the scripture, she broke out singing a worship song to The Lord. Her precious lyrics brought on my all too familiar ugly cry! Thorunn and I were looking at each other over the crowd both crying and not believing what we were seeing. Once she finished, the crowd ERUPTED in cheers, clapping and ear-piercing whistling. As if that wasnt enough, what happened next felt like God saying to me, You asked Me for complete healing, Karman. Didnt you believe? Let me show you what I am doing!! Later, Mercy was called back on stage to be a part of the closing ceremony. I still could not shut my mouth nor take my eyes off of her. Then all of a sudden, she slumped down. I watched as Thorunn immediately got up from her seat, sat down on the dirt floor and placed Mercys head in her lap. It wasnt long before a sound I had never heard in my entire life could be heard over the closing prayers. It started softly and then got louder and louder and louder. It was a a guteral wailing that did not stop. Once the service was over, I rushed to the front and saw something that will NEVER be erased from my mind. Mercy was not awake but was wailing from somewhere deep inside...soul-cleansing, pain-relieving, uncontrollable sobs for all the Hell she has had to endure. Once again, the other orphans were circling around her crying and praying as Thorunn just stroked her head like any loving mother would do. The sobs did not decrease in intensity for theirs entire 15 minute duration until suddenly they just stopped and Mercy opened her eyes. Just then another angel, her house mother, Esther, came to her side to sit with her until she could take her back to her shared twin bed and tuck her in for what may be a restless night. So I write this just a few hours later but in the wee hours of the night because I cannot possibly sleep knowing Ive experienced something that Ive read about in my bible many times...When The Light Overtakes The Dark!!! So tonight my Pleeease God! from two days ago has become Amazing God! And as I prepare to get on the plane tomorrow and have to leave Mercy in the arms of angels at ABC, I commit to do all I can so that MANY more Mercys can be rescued from the pits of Hell by the one-and-only Light!
