When does the acute phase resolve? Vignette: Endocrine (Thyroid) A 27-year-old woman comes to the physician because of fatigue and a visible painless lump in her neck for the past 3 months. Her pulse is 120/min irregular, irregular, respirations are 16/min, and blood pressure is 128/78 mm Hg. She has an enlarged, nontender thyroid gland. Initial thyroid function studies are normal. Her serum thyroid-stimulating hormone (TSH) concentration is 17 U/ml, and serum thyroxine (T4) concentration is 3.5 g/dL.
