When your Republican legislator says they oppose regulation of the Internet and they oppose net neutrality, this is what theyre saying: They want to fundamentally change how the internet works. They want to allow Comcast to charge you extra to use websites and services that it doesnt favor. They want to allow certain companies to have a competitive advantage because they can bribe Comcast into making their service faster or more easily available. What they are proposing is not to preserve the status quo-- its a massive overreach by the cable monopolies who have been lining politicians pockets, waiting for the opportunity to milk large companies dry, and starve out new competition. Dont be hoodwinked.
