While listening to KPBS, just had a revalation that republican gerrymandering in 2011 might have provided them short term gain, but in the long run is doing the party in. Because of the creation of the supermajority districts, some republican house members are no longer worried about Democrat challenges, which led to their extreme positions that though hurt their chances of presidential election, differentiate themselves from the moderate republicans who provide a great challenge for re-election. In other words, by eliminating an outside opponent, they encouraged in-house fighting. The fact that Ted Cruz are out there saying that the republicans are winning this standoff just shows that he is living in his bubble. Clinton 2016!
