While out in the pouring rain this afternoon, closing the - TopicsExpress

While out in the pouring rain this afternoon, closing the temporary detour and opening the new trail, I happened upon a group going the wrong way. It so happens - not that its relevant this second - that at least a small portion of the group are known chronic complainers. Me: Hey guys. Howya doin? Uh, did you happen to notice all those arrows back about 2 miles, and those FIVE No ATV signs you just drove by? Them: Well, ya, but we ALWAYS go this way. Me: Well, youre here. Just go this time. But for future reference this trail is now closed. Please just go the other way in the future. Them: Well yeah, but you JUST put the new signs up in the last hour, right? Me: what difference does it make if I put the signs up an hour ago or a week ago? You just drove right by several No ATV signs? Them: Well, you really ought to do something about blah blah blah trail, its really bad... (a trail miles away, and not even connected to the trail in the confrontation) SMH Seriously? How much cred are you really expecting, complaining about that other trail when just admitted youre riding illegal? That, and that trail you are concerned about you complained about last year, too. And youre the only ones to have complained about it, last year or this year... Oh, mercy me... my bad. Since youre dissatisfied with one of our trails, I guess you should just ignore all our signs and go wherever you please. Or not. Wow.... I guess we really cant please all of the people all of the time, try as we may. For what its worth, of the other 2 dozen encounters I had with trail users in the 10 hours I spent working on the trail today, all were pleasant and enjoyable.
