While there was only a grain of food left on the plate Teacher: ok buddy you are all done; time to go put your plate in the sink now Child: gesturing no by holding his spoon tightly, trying to get that last piece of grain,but having no success Teacher asserts again with a more forceful tone: YOU ARE ALL DONE, put it AWAY now Child: keeps trying to eat Teacher: waits Child: tries at least five or so more times to eat that last bit. After several tries when hes finally successful: he smiles at the teacher, gets up and puts his food plate away SN: Even though the child is only 2 years old, has a language and a speech delay, he knew what he had to do. It totally made my day :)
