Why I will be deleting my last few posts. Any message, no - TopicsExpress

Why I will be deleting my last few posts. Any message, no matter how peaceful its intent, has to also take responsibility for how that message is received. If my suggesting that ALL hate remarks should be duly punished in a court of law leads to vicious arguments between my Hindu and Muslim friends, then my message was clearly ill-conceived or badly communicated. It needs to be withdrawn. Secondly, as my closest friend pointed out, my seemingly anti-Modi statements appear to suggest that I am pro-Congress, or at least not anti-Congress enough. Let me make this very, very clear. To me another UPA government is an unthinkability. And my contempt and disgust for the goons and thugs of the Samajwadi Party is endless, and I abhor the fact that such people can pretend to speak for me and my Allah. So what is the option if not Narendra Modi? I dont know. A nation cant be run on a billion votes of NOTA. And I think we all know Modi it will be. In which case, what is the purpose of all my posts? Simply this. Suppose UPA, by some disastrous miracle or cosmic joke, came back to power. Do we lose the right to question, caution or campaign against corruption and weak-decision making? Do we lose the right to demand good governance? Similarly, the importance of not letting our guard down - since Modis ascent to Delhi is a virtual certainty - cannot be underestimated. We cant let our government forget that we dont agree with certain things, that we are deeply concerned about how certain elements and certain aspects of his politics and ideology can affect the fabric of our nation. If those fears are unfounded, excellent. But those fears exist. And those fears need to be assuaged by those in the highest office. As for those who question the very idea of free India, a secular, democratic, inclusive, peace-loving India as envisaged in our constitution, I have nothing to say, since it can only lead to more venom being spewed. From the deepest part of my heart and soul, Jai Hind.
