Why Should A Christian Attend Every Service? Through the years, - TopicsExpress

Why Should A Christian Attend Every Service? Through the years, I have noticed the following in every church: There are some Christians who attend every service of the church whenever possible. They are present for Bible study on Sunday morning & Wednesday evening. They attend both Sunday morning & evening worship services. When the church has a gospel meeting, they attend every service. There are other Christians whose attendance is not as frequent. They attend only once on Sunday, & that sporadically. They do not participate in Bible study (Sunday and Wednesday). They are not present for most services during gospel meetings. Why the difference? Does it REALLY Matter? Are there real spiritual consequences? Why should a Christian attend EVERY service possible? First of all, to fulfill the commands of God. Negatively, the command says “Do not forsake our assembling” (Hebrews 10:25). The word “forsake” means “not leaving behind, not leaving in the lurch.” While one may not have totally abandoned assembling with other Christians, by attending only once a week or occasionally one has left the work & duties given to all Christians to others thus neglecting his/her share of responsibility. Positively, the command to assemble means to: “Consider one another;” “stir up love & good works;” “exhort one another;” “Edify one another” (Rom. 14:19; 15:1-3; Heb. 3:12-14). Seek First the Kingdom of God (Matt. 6:33; 10:37,38; Luke 14:26). Why should a Christian attend EVERY service possible? To Grow and Develop Spiritually. Worship is designed for spiritual growth. This is the design of preaching (2 Tim 4:2; Col. 1:28). This is the design of Singing (Eph. 5:19; Col. 3:16). This is also the design of Prayer (Acts 2:42,46,47; 4:24-31). Why should a Christian attend EVERY service possible? To help the church function properly. The Church at Lay Lake Needs Workers! The church is a body, needing every individual part to do its share (Ephesians 4:15-16; 1 Corinthians 12:12-19). Visiting the sick, helping the needy, teaching the lost, strengthening the weak. The church is dependent upon its members! Do you want to see Lay Lake grow? The church is no stronger than the collective strength of its members. Why should a Christian attend EVERY service possible? To provide a good example and influence. All Christians are to set a good example. We are to set a good example for one another (1 Timothy 4:12; Titus 2:7,8; Romans 14:13,19-21). For newborn Christians (1 Peter 2:1,2); the weak (Romans 15:1); visitors (1 Corinthians 14:23) and the lost (Matthew 5:14-16; Phillipians 2:15). Why should a Christian attend EVERY service possible? To be ready, watching and waiting! Christians are to be prepared because: “The day is approaching” (Hebrews 10:25). We must walk wisely (Eph. 5:16). I will not be spiritually minded if Bible study and worship are not important in my life!
