Why we are supporting SSG for A/Ibom gov —Afe Annang A foremost traditional institution in Ikot Ekpene senatorial district of Akwa Ibom State, Afe Annang, has thrown its weight behind the governorship ambition of the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Mr Udom Emmanuel, for the 2015 election. Speaking in Ikot Ekpene during a consultation visit by the SSG, the president of the institution, Okuku Pius Eside, said the Afe Annang-in-council, after due consideration and assessment of all other contenders for the post of governor, adopted Mr Emmanuel based on a number of factors. Apart from what he regarded as the intimidating credentials of the SSG, he stated that he personally came out to receive the SSG because his governorship ambition was divinely inspired. He expressed confidence in the SSG to use his capacity to explore the potential of the state, empower the people of Akwa Ibom and take the state to the next level. Recalling that he anointed former Governor Victor Attah and the incumbent, Godswill Akpabio, before their elections, he said he was confident that Mr Emmanuel would be the next governor of the state. Another senior citizen, Okuku Michael Afangideh, described the SSG as resourceful and intelligent, who would use his wealth of experience and contacts to further accelerate the pace of development in the state. He noted that given his pedigree, Mr Emmanuel had the ample opportunity to lead the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) in the future, but instead he opted to serve his people.
