Women are a sweetness of life, no doubt, but they also happen to be the most complex creatures of Allaah. As nice and caring as they can be, they can also be very irrational and erratic when you need them to act maturely at times of misunderstanding and reconciliation. Abu Saeeid al-Khudree (RadhiyaLlaah) who said: Once Allaahs Messenger (sallaLlaahu alayhi wa sallam) went out to the Musalla (a place where Salaat is performed) to offer the Eid-ul-Adha or al-Fitr Salaat. Then he passed by women and said, O women! Give alms, as I have seen that the majority of the dwellers of Hell-fire were you (women). They asked, Why is it so, O Allaahs Messenger? He replied, You curse frequently and are ungrateful to your husbands. I have not seen anyone more deficient in intelligence and religion than you. A cautious sensible man could be led astray by some of you. The women asked, O Messenger of Allaah! What is deficient in our intelligence and religion? He said, Is not the evidence of two women equal to the witness of one man? They replied in the affirmative. He said, This is the deficiency in her intelligence. Isnt it true that a woman can neither pray nor fast during her menses? The women replied in the affirmative. He said, This is the deficiency in her religion. [Al-Bukhaaree and Muslim] This does not mean that there are no women more intelligent than some men, but that is a rare case, and it does not also mean that there are no women better in worship than some men, but for the fact that they menstruate etc. Knowing all these about our wonderful and loving women, it is important to be reminded of the hadeeth, The Prophet (sallaLlaahu alayhi sallam) said: Treat women kindly, for woman was created from a bent rib, and the most crooked part of the rib is the top part, so treat women kindly. [al-Bukhaari and Muslim]
