Wow, coffee break for Sisyphus. Im done with the editing and rewriting of In the Name of Self-Defense: What It Costs, When Its Worth It. Now its in the hands of the editor, photographer and cover designer. Will I make the end of the month dead line I set? Uhhh probably not. But I wont over shoot it more than a week. On the plus side I sat down yesterday and started writing the first in my series Writing Violence (This one on getting shot). Andrew Vachss has been using sweet reason on me to write the series (Youre an idiot if you dont). After wrestling with the intricacies of INoSD for so long, its really fun to write something as simple as what happens when a bullet hits a human body. I threw the basic idea at Diane Moore and heres what she threw back at me. (She also inspired the topic selection because she was writing a short story about someone getting shot) *** The Writing Violence series helps authors create stronger action scenes. By providing fundamental understanding on how violence works, their writing takes on staggering believability. As truth is often stranger than fiction, a working knowledge of the of violence frees writers to create a broader range of exciting action scenes.
