YES SHETLAND RIP We held a Yes conference today in sunny - TopicsExpress

YES SHETLAND RIP We held a Yes conference today in sunny Lerwick and the unanimous decision was taken to Raise Its Profile. Every seat was filled and Mike McKenzie MSP nipped along halfway through the meeting too. Decisions taken include continuing with the Yes meetings open to all, Facebook pages and https://twitter/YEShetland. Figures released show Facebook has added over 1,000 followers since the referendum and Twitter has increased by 60%. With the national figures for the SNP now making it the fastest growing political party in the world and Scottish Greens by percentage, you have to question what exactly is happening in Scotland. The meeting heard that entirely through donations the Yes Shetland campaign raised £5,500, which allowed it to receive 5,669 votes, and after all expenses including setting up shop we were left with £150. At this point, we would like to thank each and every one of you who not only donated money, but materials, transport, food, moral support and time to the effort. Possibly the biggest issue raised was the support for an Orkney and Shetland candidate in the election to unseat Alastair Carmichael. On this we will be working closely with Orkney and hope to have more news after the SNP Conference in less that two weeks time. More new faces turned up today who had never attended either a Yes or an SNP meeting, adding to the 500% increase in SNP membership in Shetland over the past six weeks. Looking at the political map of Scotland as shown by two recent polls you will see the most difficult seat to contest is err.....those wee dots in the sea between Northern Britain and Norway. Impossible? Not at all. Although it may require the might of the most efficient political machine Scotland has ever seen. And a sharpening of claws. Yes Shetland - Using its head and Raising Its Profile.
