Ya know, last night was amazing. The Center of the Universe - TopicsExpress

Ya know, last night was amazing. The Center of the Universe festival was pretty outstanding. The staff and volunteers went above and beyond to make the artists feel comfortable. Free food & snacks, red bull, beer, and freaking massages?! The staff was super hospitable.... and even still, there were people complaining. Theyre out of this... and, why cant I get someone into the artist lounge?.... Even people taking advantage, talking badly about the staff, the facilities and talking trash about the bands. It was really disgusting. I wish I could have my friends and family gain access to the green room, but hey. Rules are rules. They should all be appreciative of being able to play on a stage or at a venue at such a monster of a festival for all kinds of people to see & hear their art, get in for free, have an extra ticket for a guest, have all of the food and drinks they wanted, walk around and check out a plethora of amazing bands ranging from one genre extreme to the next, AND be compensated pretty darn handsomely to play. I can see people getting used to it, and letting it go to their head, but we as musicians should remember why we started playing in the first place. If you literally picked up a guitar so you could be famous and live the rock star life... Well, then, right on. I started playing so I could share my music with people. I feel fortunate just being on a stage revealing a very personal and vulnerable side of myself. Thats payment enough. Yes, perks are sweet, and being paid to do what you love is such a great feeling.. but the complaining was ridiculous. Made me really sad. Sorry for the novel.
