Yesterday I posted a picture to some on Africa from my lens site. In the 80s when at UM Derm, David Taplin and I were working with the Masai Tribe in Kenya on skin diseases in collaboration with U of Nairobi Dept of Micro. There was a rabies outbreak In the cat population in the national park which would have devastated the incredible preserve! And the Masai that live in that area are amazing, creative people. The preserve crew that also Protect from poachers, were speeding to us in a jeep and Told us to just grab our stuff ( no time to go back to base camp)! A Plane is on its way for you because we have a Plan in place! We grabbed our backpacks, cooler of supplies and blood agar plates and hopped into the plane that just landed. We didnt even know about the rabies or plan until the jeep drove up! We took off immediately and as the Cessna was climbing almost almost straight up to clear the snow caps of Kilimanjaro to get to Tanzania .
