Yezidis are a minority idol worshippers very much like Hindus in their rituals and mythology. Their is striking similarity between Taus Melek, the Yezidian Peacock Angel - their most revered object of worship, and Lord Kaartikeya also called Murugan or Kumar / Subramanya. However, because of their beliefs, they are considered - out of the triad of Book Religions and so Devil Worshippers. Precisely for this reason, they have been subjected to 74 genocides, the latest one having taken place in August 2014. Subsequently they have suffered immensely and are languishing in squalid Refugee Camps. Diseases, malnutrition, psychological trauma and an uncertain future. We in India, have a natural sympathy for such persecuted people. Parsis, Tibetans and Tamils have all found safety in the lap of Bhaarat Maata. Various humanitarian organizations like HEART, VHP, IAHV, Sewa International, Red Cross etc have all extended full support in aid and rehabilitation of these fellow humans. HEART has involved itself in campaigning for their Rights, providing Aid and Rehabilitation. We are striving to extend scholarships for Yezidian pupils, hoping to study in India. HEART also strives to help Yezidis in tabulating and writing the Yezidian religious scriptures by the Yezidian people themselves. Other projects at hand are a fund raiser on 8th February, where some prominent Political leaders, Lawyers, Intellectuals and Indologists will be present. We also plan to extend relief and medical camp in Kurdistan for our brethren. A team of Indian doctors, including female Gynaecologists, have bravely come forward to help them in Kurdistan.
