You want to lose fat, but you hate tuna, blue grenadier and broccoli with a vengeance? No biggie. Eat something else. Pretty simple. Egg whites flick on your gag reflex? No problems Lets swap that protein source for one you enjoy. I’ve had clients tell me that their past nutrition coaches have told them that there arent substitutions for chicken. No substitute for chicken??? Or oats. OATS. (*insert concerned furrowed brow of mine, lol) Riddle me this: What if you don’t have access to chicken or oats? More importantly, what if you vehemently despise chicken or oats? Or what if, like many people, oats doesn’t digest well for you, making you a very sad sack to eat? You’re supposed to - what - eat it anyways? No, no, no. “But, Ingrid, I thought I had to have protein powder post-workout because of it’s bioavailability?” If you like protein powder post-workout, then have it. However, if you don’t like it, or it upsets your stomach, or it doesnt satisfy you, or for whatever other reason it doesn’t totally float your boat, then eat real food that contains protein post-workout. Problem solved. So to add another warning sign to last weeks post about your comp diet (or life long diet) NOT working for you - a complete lack in flexibility is also not acceptable, uncool and a red flag.
