Young Volunteers for the Environment-The Gambia (YVE) celebrate the World Environment Day on June 5, 2014 at Gambia College, Brikama, YVE-The Gambia Organization is bringing together schools and civic societies in and around Brikama and other parts of Kanifing Municipal Region. Various activities for students, such as symposium, road side clean up and sensitizations have been planned. There will also be awareness building activities on environment conservation for students and volunteers as well as presentation of the Energy Globe Award 2013 to YVE-The Gambia. YVE’s “Clean Energy for Africa Project (CLENA)” was chosen as best project of The Gambia and will be honored with the National Energy Globe Award The Gambia!, by the Consulate of the Republic of Austria to The Gambia. Time: 10:00 A.M – 12:00 PM This year’s World Environment Day theme (“Think.Eat.Save”) challenges us to reflect on our relationship with food—how it affects our environment, and how we can make more informed choices.
