Your child has cancer. These are words that 46 families will here today and every day. Tragically, cancer remains the #1 killer of Americas children- more Cystic Fibrosis, Muscular Dystrophy, Asthma and AIDS combined. Only one new cancer drug has been approved for pediatric cancer treatment in the past 20 years and treatment leaves 60% of survivors with long-term health issues, from organ damage to high risk of secondary cancer. At the University of Delaware, the Equestrian Team is involved in making a difference for children with cancer and their families. Our team is participating in UDance- a 12-hour Dance Marathon that takes place March 23, 2014 where we will dance today to give kids a tomorrow. The Equestrian Teams goal is to exceed last years $11,000 to help UDance raise more than last years $550,051.61 that benefits The Andrew McDonough B+ Foundation. Not only are we doing this for all the kids, but we are fortunate enough to have brought a B+ Hero onto our team to call our own named Olivia who has brain cancer. She is our inspiration for everything we do.
