Youth Hip Hop Therapy At Oakland Parks & Recreation Facilities – Wednesday, October 15, is the deadline for young men between the ages of 12 and 19 to apply for the upcoming Hip Hop Therapy programs. Oakland Parks & Recreation (OPR) has partnered with the Oakland Public Library and Oakland-based nonprofit Beats Rhymes and Life, Inc. to offer a series of Hip Hop Therapy programs. Over a period of twenty weeks in the fall, youth will work with music production artists, mental health clinicians, youth mentors and peers to create a collective album based on their experiences living in East and West Oakland and perform their work in local community showcases. The programs will be offered on Fridays at the Arroyo Viejo Recreation Center, 7701 Krause Avenue, and on Tuesdays at the 81st Avenue Library, 1021 81st Avenue. To submit an application, please visit brl-inc.org/fall2014/. To read the media release, please visit www2.oaklandnet/w/oak049287.
