Zambian bid tops presentations at CAF meeting in Addis FAZ president Kalusha Bwalya and Zambias ambassador to Ethiopia Susan Sukaneta made an excellent presentation of Zambias Africa Cup bid, receiving praise and commendation from many delegates who expressed satisfaction that the country had the best prospects for 2019. Zambias package for the tournament in five years time includes matches played against a backdrop of the spectacular Victoria Falls with two brand new stadium already in place - a scenario not beaten by any other nations but only rivaled by Algeria. This time around Zambia have proposed six venues including Livingstone, a town that overlooks the waterfall on the Zambezi river which divides Zambia and Zimbabwe and is one of the seven wonders of the world. A stadium beside the Falls would challenge Cape Town Stadium, a 2010 World Cup venue lying in the shadow of Table Mountain, as the African football venue with the most spectacular backdrop. Another boost for the Zambian bid was the recent opening of a Chinese-built 50,000-seat National Heroes Stadium in capital Lusaka. Zambia have proposed six venues for a tournament needing a minimum of four, while Cameroon have proposed five and Algeria, Guinea and Ivory Coast four each. Algeria (1990), Cameroon (1972) and Ivory Coast (1984) are former hosts of the biennial African football showpiece but Guinea have never hosted the competition which was first staged 57 years ago in Sudanese capital Khartoum.
