[admin] Weve been sent this, it gets one post. PLEASE SHARE! Did you know that THOUSANDS of dogs are dumped in shelters every year? Do you realize that the majority of these are destroyed? If you get a dog and abandon it or dump it in a shelter YOU are essentially responsible for its death. DO NOT get a dog (or any other animal) if you cannot look after it. Its easy to kid yourself that it will find a new home if you abandon it but this is unlikely. Before you get a pet, ask yourself the following questions: 1) Can I afford this animals food, vets bills, cost of being spayed etc? 2) How will I train this dog and ensure it is safe to have around my family and the public? 3) Do I have enough time and space for this animal? Will I be able to walk it and give it enough attention every day? 4) Will I be able to ensure I can still look after this dog if I move house/ have children etc? 5) Am I committed to doing these things for as long as 18+ years? (depending on breed) 6) If I am buying a dog for someone else am I confident that person will be able to tick all these boxes? TAKE RESPONSIBILITY. DO NOT GET A DOG IF YOU CANNOT LOOK AFTER IT. There are far too many dogs in the UK and not enough owners! Do not breed your dogs! Yes it would be cute and fun but is it really worth it? Why buy a dog from a breeder when you can rescue one and save its life? Even pure breeds! Dogs need to be trained properly to ensure they are not dangerous, this is YOUR responsibility! Not the dogs! DONT BREED OR BUY WHILE SHELTER PETS DIE! DO NOT GET A PET IF YOU CANT LOOK AFTER IT.
