revel8ion blog: Is God a hero or a criminal? While reading Joshua Greesons Gods Will is Always Healing book once again this jumped out at me as I hear allot from people about how they believe that if God wants that person sick, there gunna get sick and theres no stopping it or well, she died at age 22 God must have wanted another angel... NO! NO! NO! STOP blaming God fro satins work- That is the true definition of blasphemy. I love how Mr. Greeson breaks it down in chapter 10, pg. 189: Does God will the bad to bring the good? Another favorite approach of the Hyper-Soverignty (Everything that happens is Gods will) fans is to say that its Gods will for bad or evil situations to come so that He can bring good out of them. Theyll even attempt to quote Scripture: All things work together for good, they say. Well, problem is, theyve totally removed this verse from its context: Romans 8:26-28 This Scripture is talking about praying in the Holy Spirit (God-empowered prayer in other tongues). It says that when we dont know how to pray about a certain situation, the Holy Spirit helps us by enabling us to pray the will of God. When we do, God then brings about His will in that situation. He takes the mess the devil (or people) created, and turns it all around for our benefit. Even if you want to ignore the full context of praying in the Holy Spirit, it still only means that God takes a situation that is NOT His will, and changes it into one that IS! The bad situation was NOT Gods will, or He would not want to reverse it. HELLO!? Bad situations are created by Fallen creation/s. If a person invites God in faith to change the situation so it lines up with His (good) will, then He DOES IT. If well invite God into our mess, Hell turn it around. That is what the verse means. AGAIN, the confusion lies in a problematic understanding of Gods Sovereignty. Hyper-Soverignty folks say that God just uses the devil to do evil works, to bring about situations that God can ultimately reverse and get glory for. For instance, they say He uses the devil to make someone sick, so that Jesus could heal them and get God glory. Because God is so insecure that He needs to hurt the people He loves so he can get credit for healing them, right? Does God need recognition and glory from people that badly? If someone has the idea that God Sovereignly uses the devil as a pawn to do His will, then the goofball in this story is the God that they believe in! God is the Man who rescues a family from a burning building, but then they also say that God also paid the devil to set the fire? Is God a hero or a criminal in that view? Who would give God glory for that kind of behavior? We have to re-think this view of our loving Father. And as for the well God works in mysterious ways folks, that phrase is not in the Bible, is not a Biblical truth. Its just a hymn written in 1773 by William Cowper from England. The Gospel which was in a sense hidden in the past, has now been fully revealed through Jesus Christ. Identity is key in our relationship with our loving Father and if we have a bad understanding of our Abba Daddy how can we truly glorify God in Spirit and in truth. revel8ionministries.blogspot
