this is where we come from. hail to the king. a true leader must have a vision, and in retrospect, his was maybe youthful, reckless and immature, but still it was complete - what Black Metal is, how it must look, sound and feel like. keeping it close within our ranks. our own labels, our own shops, fanzines - our own scene. not for the scum. what he did was bringing the best people together under one banner. only releasing something that´s 100% and crushes everything else. he and Dead almost single-handedly created the fundament on which worthless armies of musicians without vision stand today. just this very morning I have seen a documentary on TV about Norway for tourists, and it included Black Metal as controversial but well accepted common cultural property - presented by a hipster explaining it´s about ´ice, woods, melancholy´. that´s how far it has come. disgusting. Abhik Chakraborty´s link appeared just a few hours later in my timeline. so what are the idolised superstars of Black Metal doing these days? taking every chance to clarify this music is not for the scum? do they try to keep commercialism blocked out for the sake of building and strengthening our own cult? no, in interviews they talk about Metal history, politics, big festivals. light-heartedly. to quote a Rock Hard 1993 article (although meant differently), ´quo vadis, Black Metal´. ps: I will delete all positive and negative comments in this thread, not to spoil Euronymous´ words - which are crude now, as I said, over 20 years later, but back then these words were law. everyone picked up those words - Count Grishnackh, Samoth, and from Sweden to South America, it was repeated over and over what Black Metal is about. and for quiet some time now I wonder how many people have forgotten - for the sake of selfishness, carelessness, sloth. I repeat: hail to the king!
