via Tj Lee Williams : Modigliani was a 32 year old Italian painter living in Paris when he met a 19 year old named Jeanne Hébuterne, and she became what must have felt like being a muse to Apollo himself. He was a Jew, and her conservative Catholic parents disowned her as a result of her unyielding devotion to him. They had one child together, a daughter, but in 1920, just under three years after they’d met he died of tubercular meningitis. Inconsolable, she was eventually taken to her parents home where she leapt the following evening from a fifth story window killing both herself, and an unborn child she’d been carrying for eight months. It would be ten years before her family would allow her body to be moved lay next to his in Père Lachaise Cemetery in Paris where it remains today. He died destitute, and penniless having had only one solo show during his lifetime. Often exchanging paintings for food at the end, and in February of last year a portrait he’d painted of her sold for 42.1 million dollars. Had his life not been cut short on the very first month of the roaring nineteen twenties who’s to say what he might have achieved with more time. This reminded me today that our consciousness, and ability to produce something of value in this life has an expiration date unknown to all of us, and that this near constant source of pressure is dismissed by some in a misguided attempt to escape responsibility for their own failings. But it shouldn’t be so. Intellectual endeavors like any other worthwhile ambitions require hard work, dedication, discipline, and inspiration. If you can’t seek those ingredients out within yourself and throughout your present position in life, I recommend you instead capitalize on that instinct for flight, and escape the place that you are without hesitation. As there is only so much time before there are no more leaps to be taken. Without further digression, here’s a video catalog of the work of AMADEO MODIGLIANI: https://youtube/watch?v=kfBo7AYfTIE
