04-16/ 17-2008 We have the shelving rack in place, all we have to do now is load it down.” “I was hoping that might have taken place by now. I brought some plants, priced and labeled for you.” A big grin came across his face. He patted my back while saying, “You are on the ball girl, I’m proud of you. Where is your car?” “I parked out front by the second door. I thought it would be easier to unload all the plants.” “Let’s go take a look. I might have you move down closer to the first door.” Both of us started outside. By the time we were at the back of the car, Casey suggested “I think it would be closer to move the car down farther to unload.” “Ok, go and stand where you think is the best.” He headed down to the spot thought was the best. Then I backed up into the spot. I just hope they didn’t get hurt during transportation. After parking We got them unloaded and into the store. Then I noticed Casey looking over the plants. “Casey is there anything wrong?” He turned around and looked like he was proud as he commented, “Barbara, these look so good. Dana told me you raised these plants. I can’t believe they are this nice.” I felt flattered at the thought of someone thinking a pro had grown the plants. “Casey, these are small compared to my others. I thought with your big window, they might grow.” “They will grow some before everyone snatches them up. Mom will be the first to grab a few.” “I’m proud you think they are nice.” “Compared to the last ones we got in; they are like grown. These have blooms, where the others were straggly.” He just kept going on about them, when he thought of how to handle them. “Barbara, what type of fertilizer have you used?” Now he is fishing for suggestions to keep them looking good. “Casey, it is all natural fertilizer. With the cattle out there, I have free access to aged manure. Then I mix that, potting soil and peat together for good circulation.” He looked me straight in the eyes saying; “Is that all? Looks like you spent all your time tending to them.” “Casey, with all of the things we have been through, I haven’t spent much time them. This is another reason for me getting rid them. I’m not going to have much time to mess with garden as I have before.” With that statement, I needed to go. I told Casey; “Casey, I need to go for now. Dana told me the money collected is kept separate from any other you might accumulate. I’ll see you later, and thank you for letting me leave the plants here.” “Barbara, we are more than happy that you left us some to sell that are this nice. We will see you around, hopefully soon. Bye” “Give me a call if you sell out, all right?” He nodded to say yes, and then off to see Margie Payne. I was excited finally to see her for advice on a good Attorney to help settle your estate. While I was there, I gave her that small head of cabbage. When you are in Roaring Springs, it doesn’t take long to get somewhere. Within five minutes, I was pulling into Margie’s driveway. As I walked up to the door, I heard that familiar voice hollering out…..”Come on in.” I continued inside as she was getting up. “Margie, just stay put. I’ve got my coffee here and unless you want something; you don’t need to get anything.” She sat back down as I went to a chair facing her. I started asking; “Margie, how have you done these last few days?” “Oh, I‘m doing ok I guess. Here lately I have these light headed feelings.” I started getting worried. “Have you gone to the doctor lately?” “Yes, and they tell me it is my age. That we all wear out at some time in our lives.” “Margie, what do your girls have to say about this problem?” “They want me to quit going dancing and things that I enjoy doing.” It was a shame she might have to give up all that she enjoys. If I know Margie very well, she won’t go down without a fight. As long as we have known each other, she always had a lot of spunk for her 74 years “What do you want to do? I certainly would do as I wanted to do, until I couldn’t go anymore.” “Barbara, you and I are a lot alike. We want to continue to do as we please, until we are in a wheelchair. Then it will be time to limit our activities.” I feel like it would be hard for someone to give up his or her independence as I told her; “I know someone would have to go through a lot to take my independence away from me. I wouldn’t go down without a fight.” Father, as long as I trust in your presence, I have nothing to worry about. Nothing can separate me from You, because You are the protector, the mighty One who watches over me always. I praise You Father for Your Protection. Amen, Barb
