10 Ways To Get Out Of A Hopeless Situation Even the most motivated of us can get into a slump that even thinking about making positive changes seems too difficult. But it’s not hopeless. With some small steps, baby ones in fact; you can get started down the road to positive change. Yes, I know, it seems impossible at times. You don’t feel like doing anything. But I’ve learned a few ways to break out of a slump. When I fall out of exercise, due to illness or injury or disruption from things going on in my life, it’s hard to get started again. I don’t even feel like thinking about it. But I’ve always found different ways to break out of that. Here they are 1. F.O.C.U.S. Follow, One direction, Until, Something happens. Whenever I’ve been in a slump recently I’ve discovered it is because I have too much going on in my life. I’m trying to do too much. Living like this can leave you sapped of energy and unmotivated and burnt out. Try not to take on to much at once. You cannot maintain the energy and focus required for you to accomplish more than one goal. 2. Find inspiration. Read other blogs, books, magazines, Google your goal, and read success stories. 3. Get excited. This sounds obvious, but most people don’t think about it much: if you want to break out of a slump, get yourself excited about a goal. This can be hard. Even when you don’t feel like it start anyway after that it’s just a matter of carrying that energy forward and keeping it going. 4. Give yourself a start date. Make it important date in your life and do some of the steps below. Because by delaying your start, you are building anticipation, and increasing your focus and energy for your goal. 5. Place your goal where you can see it. This will be a reminder of what you are working towards. I tend to like pictures of goal, or simple words that remind me about the direction I would like to go in. 6. Do something daily. If you do something about your goal everyday even if it is just 5 minutes. Send yourself daily reminders. This will help it is much more likely to become true. 7. Get help. Seek advice from the ones that have gone before, you may find that you are standing on others shoulders to help you get to where you hope to go. 8. About Motivation. Realize that motivation may there and on different days may feel like it is none existent. When you realize this you need to realize that this situation is not permanent. Whatever you do, don’t give up no matter what. 9. Start small. Really small. If you are having a hard time getting started, it may be because you may be trying to do too much at once. Take baby steps. Sometimes it helps to just focus on what is right in front of you, and celebrate your small successes. Again, if you start small for a week, you’re going to be successful. This will give a better chance at completing the after a couple of months, your tiny steps will add up to a lot of progress and a lot of success. 10. Let go of negative thoughts. Thoughts like, “This is too hard, can really put you back.” It may be hard but if you feel that you had a valid goal. Take time to find a way to get going again. A slump need not be the end of you going after your goals, just like life has its ups and downs. Your goals may be subject to the same ups and goals but you can hold on to you goal and achieve them even if it is a just a little at a time.
