10 years ago today my life changed. All the plans and ideas I had for my life came to a complete halt. 2004 was the hardest year of my life. I felt like I had lost everything. Not just my possessions and my job but my health was going downhill and according to all the doctors, I would loose my mobility and that pain management was all I could do. I had lost hope. What happened afterwards is not about me being right and others being wrong. I had to get over myself. The only way my situation was going to change was for me to change. I know this sounds like something right out of a fortune cookie but its true. I reached out to my friends and family, got a lot of help and even more tough love when I needed it. A lot of you have called me an inspiration and Im grateful. Some of you have even called me a hero. The people in your life that fight for you ( as well as with you at times) because they believe in you when you dont and see things in you that you cant right now , those are real heroes. Think about that then take a look at the people in your life. Youll see them. I have quite a few heroes in many life. I feel pretty dam lucky to have them. Here are just a few Danny Cahill My best friend, My brother, and an inspiration. Lisa Landry youve helped me laugh when things were bad and cheered me on. Youre awesome Paris Kelly youve been a part of so many of my smiles since you were 2. What an amazing young woman you have become. So proud of you. You are one of my most favorite people in the world :) Dennis Howard , Jenny McNett , Joe New, Keith Ashley Saying thank you will never be enough for what youve done for me and your continued friendships. Darrell Hood - You literally taught me how to walk again.. No matter what challenges you face in your life , you are never alone. You matter to someone. Think about that for a second - pretty neat, huh? No one can do it all alone in life. Reach out to the people in your life. It may take a while, but with help, youll make it.
