Robin Williams was born in Chicago, Illinois, on 21 July 1951. Williams earned an Oscar award for his performance in Good Will Hunting as a supporting actor. • In his lifetime, Williams received four four Golden Globe Awards, two Screen Actors Guild Awards and five Grammy Awards. • He was voted 13th on Comedy Central’s list “100 Greatest Stand-ups of All Time” in 2004. 2. Reshamlal Jangade, the member of First Lok Sabha, Died • Reshamlal Jangade, the veteran politician and a member of the countrys first Lok Sabha from undivided Madhya Pradesh, died on 11 August 2014. • He died at a private hospital in Raipur following a prolonged illness. He was 90. • He dedicated his entire life for betterment of farmers, labourers and the people belonging to the last row of the society. 3. Goalkeeping great Vladimir Beara of Croatia died at 85 • Goalkeeping great Vladimir Beara of Croatia died in city Split of Croatia on 11 August 2014. He died after a series of strokes over the past year. He was 85. • He was considered to be one of the greatest goalkeepers of all time in Football history. • In 1963 legendary Soviet goalkeeper Lev Yashin while receiving FIFA’s Golden Ball had reportedly said, “I am not the best goalkeeper in the world, it is Vladimir Beara.” Economy 1. Tata-Singapore Airlines (SIA) named its upcoming joint venture airline as Vistara and will start its operation from October 2014. SIA on 11 August 2014 disclosed the name of their airline. • Vistara is an inspiration from Sanskrit word, Vistaar that means limitless expanse. A suspected case of the deadly Ebola virus, which surfaced in Chennai on 10 August night, has galvanised health authorities from Telangana and Andhra Pradesh to start the groundwork to meet exigencies in Hyderabad and elsewhere. • While authorities maintained that there was no ‘clear and present’ danger from Ebola virus, precautionary measures, however, are mandatory. • Senior doctors, who have handled a similar swine flue (H1N1) outbreak in 2009-10 in Hyderabad, pointed out that there was a need to strengthen surveillance at airports by making mandatory screening of passengers coming from the four West African countries that include Guinea, Liberia, Nigeria and Sierra Leone. • According to WHO, 1,800 cases of Ebola positive cases were reported from the four countries till August 6, out of which 961 were fatalities
