12/1/14 DRAFT Request for Additional Information - From NRC QUESTION: Revision 7 of both the NA3 FSAR and the NA3 Environmental Report indicated that tritium from the liquid effluent releases into the environment (Lake Anna) from NA Units 1 & 2, and the projected tritium from Unit 3, is released again as an airborne effluent by the loss of cooling tower makeup water out the cooling tower stack. This tritium is addressed as being in compliance with 40 CFR Part 190, 10 CFR 20, 10 CFR 50 Appendix I. FSAR Revision 8, Table 12.2-17R, includes a note describing the gaseous tritium effluent values in the table. Please expand this note, or include in a section within Chapter 11 or 12, an explanation as to how these values were derived. Please include the process used to determine any annual gaseous curies released per year based on the releases from current site units, Lake Anna volume and concentration of tritium and any other radionuclides, maximum cooling tower release rate to the environment, and the release height and dispersion factors (X/Q and D/Q) used to calculate the doses from this additional release point. Please list other FSAR chapters or documents referred to if information was gathered from them for these determinations. Please add RIS 2008-03 as a reference, and explain how it was utilized to address the NA3 site situation. Please address the items above and provide a mark-up on the proposed FSAR changes. pbadupws.nrc.gov/docs/ML1433/ML14336A662.pdf
