12 years ago Great British Bake Off 2014 winner Nancy Birtwhistle came to Bettys Cookery School to do one of our courses. Earlier this month she returned - as a tutor. I feel so proud and so privileged to be invited here to Bettys today,” she explained to an intimate audience of aspiring bakers at this one-off event. I think people are wanting to learn how to bake again which really excites me because there was a worry that some of these skills were going to disappear. She delighted everyone with an effortless mix of practical baking tips and fabulous stories about her time on Great British Bake Off, including a wild ride on a motorbike, how she nearly missed her audition and the truth behind her relationship with the ‘male judge’ (“he’s the nicest man you could meet”).
