16 AUGUST 2013 One of the saddest stories I ever heard was about a couple with a baby daughter who had hired a sailing boat for a holiday in Corsica. Whilst out in the Gulf of Ajaccio, the boom gybed swinging over the cockpit. The boom struck the man with full force sending him tumbling over the side and into the sea in an unconscious state. The wife, not knowing what to do or how to sail, picked up the baby in her arms and jumped into the sea to be with her husband. The woman could have left the baby in the boat and jumped herself if she thought she could help once in the water but of course she would not leave the baby. With all three in the water perhaps she thought she could revive him or, perhaps, it was just an instinctive reflex since she must have felt so alone and helpless. No-one will ever know. Tragically all three were found dead - washed up on the shores of Sanguinaires - a nearby island. The point of the story? Tinky DID THE RIGHT THING. To leave Sophia for me (on the boat) would have been crazy... she would have lost her for life since SS would have taken her to save their jobs. For Tinky to jump into the water for me with Sophia in her arms would also have been the wrong thing to do! All three of us would have drowned!! The best thing for her to do was to start the engine, to circle the husband and to throw him a line the second he regained consciousness. He was face up with a life jacket on (The Court) - he never would have died. THIS IS WHAT SHE HAS DONE. She got it 100% and absolutely right and is to never blame herself for the separation. I love her. I coming back. I am the Daddy. youtube/watch?v=rSpAy3OoSCI
