#18: We Can Work It Out by Stevie Wonder Winnipeg, Summer 2005. I was on my first professional tour as an actor with Celebrations Dinner Theatre. An intense Week and a half of rehearsals followed by a six month run. I was thrown together with a group of crazy performers, some of whom I had known for a while, some I was meeting for the first time. I was nervous and felt like a fake, like I had somehow lucked into being in the same group as these awesomely talented individuals. It didn’t take long however for the whole crew to take me under their wing and make me feel loved and appreciated. That summer was one of the best times I’ve ever had in my life, and that cast and I got into SO much trouble. The hotel we we’re put up in must have HATED us. Impromptu dance parties we’re nearly mandatory, and the official song of the summer, of the tour even, was Stevie Wonder’s version of The Beatle’s “We Can Work It Out”. It’s one of the first memories I have of a particular song defining a time in my life and being so closely associated with such an amazing group of people. Whenever I hear it, it brings back so many amazing and bittersweet memories. Thank you so much Chrys, Lindsay, Alan, Ariel, Katrina, Nicola, Mathieu & Chantelle. You gave me an experience that will live within me forever.
