#199 THIS IS NOT AN ENDORSEMENT There is an actress and producer - Sepideh Haftgoli - who is using the IMDb database to solicit actors and pitch them an acting class she is producing. She is either putting out fake casting notices or simply trolling for local Los Angeles actors to approach. Either way, its just plain sleazy. As a casting director, I find this kind of behavior and abuse of a system like IMDb Pro reprehensible. By the way, this is the same woman who actually posted a workshop flier on my timeline a few years ago pitching an unbonded workshop. And from what I can tell, she still hasnt bothered to post a bond. Ive included the letter that Ms. Haftgoli is sending to actors. Dont fall for a scheme by someone using the system for her own sleazy devices. It gives real working professionals a bad name! Buyer beware. If she tries to hit you up on IMDb Pro...? Report her. ``````````````````````` Dear (Actor); I researched and found you on IMDBPRO and wanted to let you know about a truly fantastic director’s intensive coming up on Saturday, April the 19th from 10:30 to 5PM. I have 5 spots remaining. I am a feature film producer and run an intensive once every two months called WORKING DIRECTORS WITH ACTORS, where I bring in actual working directors I have had the privilege of working with or meeting in the business to do a one day intensive with actors. Since these directors are constantly working, and one would not get in front of them normally unless they were auditioning for one of their projects, I want to make sure I don’t waste their time and only have really talented actors join the class. As a result, I selectively email actors that are with agencies or managers that I feel are at a level in their career where they would do good work, but yet still able to take advantage of getting in front of a director early. This next intensive is with director MARY LOU BELLI. The first two hours will be a group sitcom intensive, we will take a quick break for lunch, and then when we come back you will be able to bring in your own comedy or dramedy scene to perform of your liking, where I will pair you up with a partner beforehand. She has judged film fests both in the US and internationally including the Sapporo Short Film Festival and the Newport Beach Film Festival and been a lecturer at the Chautauqua Institute, and a panelist for Women In Film, the DGA, SAG, and AFTRA and the L.A. Times Festival of Books. She is the co-author of three books: “The NEW Sitcom Career Book,” Acting for Young Actors, and “Directors Tell the Story.” She teaches at USC’s School of Cinematic Arts.
