200 years ago, Mary Hollingsworth, widow of Zebulon Hollingsworth Jr., died April 18th, leaving many of her belongings to be sold later that year in November. I wonder, would her household belongings, which are listed so routinely in those pen scratchings found in the estate document, actually have been some wonderful, classic pieces from that appealing time period. The Traditional Neoclassical Federal style of furniture and home decor, may have been a bit plainer than the Georgian colonial style, but utilized simpler decorative motifs and luxurious yet understated, graceful lines to create a simple elegance.
