2014 KANANA MATRICULANT SCORES 100% IN MATHEMATICS AND IS REGARDED THE BEST IN NORTH WEST PROVINCE. *We know this is old news for some of you but hey it would be wrong not to post this for those who dont know. Read Below: Sanele Macamo is a remarkable pupil who believes that hard work leads to success. This intelligent boy scored 100% in Mathematics, the best in the province, and four more distinctions in Physical Science (94%), Life Science (91%), Life Orientation (81%) and Accounting (96%). He also passed English with 78% and Xhosa with 71%. Sanele was a Grade 12 pupil at Thuto Tsebo Secondary School and can’t wait to start a new academic life at university. He is living in a RDP house at Vaal Park Section, Kanana with his parents and siblings and he says times were tough. “It was tough sometimes, my father works temporary on the farms and my mother is a domestic worker at one of my teachers’ homes. We depend entirely on my two siblings’ social grants and my parents’ earnings for survival,” he told Lentswe. Thato, as his family calls him, plans to enrol at Wits to study B Comm if he secures a bursary. He added: “It’s a dream come true for me to score a distinction mostly in Mathematics. I’m not intelligent, but it’s just that I study hard, stay focused and spend more time studying, than watching TV - that is all. “There is no secret to my success. I therefore encourage other pupils to do the same and take me as their example.” He also advises his peers to refrain from showing bad behaviour towards their teachers and parents as this will hamper their performance. “I used to do the same things that they are doing, but only because I knew what I want, I stayed focused and succeeded.’’ His proud mother, Nobuhle Bashilo (47), said she is over the moon that her son passed matric. “Thato has done wonders and we’re proud indeed. We wish him everything of the best in his endeavour to acquire a tertiary education.” School principal Letebele Maloka taught him Mathematics and is extremely proud. “I’m very happy that each and every year we produce distinctions at our school, but Sanele was super and much better than others.” Maloka said: “At the beginning of the year, we start extra classes in the afternoons, weekends and also on holidays. Our intension is to finish our lessons in time and have a time to revise. “We are trying by all means to improve and set our standard. We don’t want to be lower than 100%, but work hard to reach a 100% pass rate.” Source: :Lentswe
